What does "Quality of Life" mean?

Hello and welcome back! Thanks for checking in with us :) This week, we began our Social Inquiry into the many factors that contribute to ones Quality of Life. It all began with understanding that we all have rights, and that these rights also come with responsibility. We then moved into preliminary discussions around needs vs. wants as we begin to compare our lives to those living in various countries or communities around the world.

In Language Arts, we worked on our new word sorts (sent home Monday), met with some of our guided reading groups, and worked on our writing. We finished reading The Wild Robot Escapes. but then brainstormed some ideas for yet another sequel for this amazing series. We then began reading Wishtree by Katherine Applegate - a wonderful story that is well aligned with our Social Studies inquiry of rights, needs, diversity, and acceptance.

In math, we started transferring our knowledge of regrouping for addition, to subtraction. We've also been working on "reading for information" as we spent time working on word problems. We quickly realized that reading word problems requires full understanding of what the question is actually asking us to do. To help us, we broke down each question using the acronym CUBES. Please ask your child what each letter represents :)

In PE, we finished Drumfit and will begin skipping next week.
