Kindness begins here...

Hello and welcome back.

We have had a wonderful and busy week. Students were able to celebrate each other through kindness by wearing pink on Pink Shirt Day and it was inspiring to see them express this throughout the week.

Mathematics: We began multiplication this week with an introduction to vocabulary such as factors and products. We also learned about strategies for multiplication including repeated addition, drawing pictures of groups of, skip counting and number lines, and arrays.

Language Arts: This week we continued with our guided reading, began literature circles, continued with our read aloud The City of Ember and began writing a reader response activity related to this novel. Students also got their new Words Their Way on Monday and will be tested in one week.

Social Studies: We are moving toward the end of our unit on India and are are very close to stamping our passports. We are also finishing our maps of India and region and are excited to visit our next country, Tunisia! We also made an art connection to our unit on India with our tiger drawings and painting our clay for kids elephants.

Kinder Buddies: We visited with our kinder buddies this week and spent time sharing kindness by helping with reading and pink shirt activities.

Next Week:

Fun Lunch on Wednesday (Boston Pizza)

Earl Grey School Girls Choir is performing for us on Wednesday morning :)

Have a great weekend!
