Club Friday!

Hello and thank you for checking in with us! We've had a wonderfully busy yet exciting week! We have a new student teacher with us for the next 10 weeks and his name is Mr. Crawley. Mr Crawley's first day at Cranston School was on Wednesday and he has become a part of our classroom getting to know the students. He is excited to meet you in the upcoming weeks. He also quite enjoyed learning about and seeing Club Friday! And yes, he was an active participant in our Drama Club! Welcome aboard Darren!

This week in Language Arts:

We worked on our writing as we wrote about Family Day after the long weekend. We also enjoyed our Daily Five selections, guided reading groups, and listening to the City of Ember. We will be working in our new groups and will receive our new Words Their Way on Monday. You may notice that some of the word sorts are the same. This is due to your child not being able to demonstrate their understanding of spelling patterns consistently.

In Math:

We had a great week reviewing and working with regrouping while subtracting. We are now starting multiplication and students are pretty excited! Students will learn many different strategies in order to understand and utilize multiplication.

In Social:

We spent more time learning about India and observing some of the similarities and differences when compared to our lives. We will continue studying India for a couple more days and then head to Tunisia. Don't worry, we have up to date passports and we'll be sure to head home for dinner :)

In PE:

Students engaged and played with ringette this week and will play sledge hockey next week.

For Next Week:

Pink Shirt Day is Feb. 26th - please help us end bullying by supporting this initiative

Please note that I sent home purple Acknowledgement of Risk forms for our upcoming field trip to the Bow Habitat Station on Thursday March 12th. Please sign and return the forms by next Friday - thank you :)

All for now - Have a great weekend!
