Hello and welcome back. We've had an incredibly busy and exciting week! And of course we're also really happy we're receiving fall like weather. As much as kids enjoyed having the early snow, I think they're happy to shed a layer or two.
Our week:
We continued practicing our reading and writing skills through Daily Five activities. We've also had two spelling tests and will soon begin our guided reading and Words Their Way spelling groups. We also learned how to expand our ideas by adding details to our sentences. Our newest read aloud novel is one of my personal favorites, The Tale of Despereaux by Kate Dicamillo. We will eventually compare the book to the movie so please hold off watching it!! As I mentioned to the class, most books turned into movies have some differences, but this one has several changes and in my opinion, the book is better.
In math, we've met in small groups to assess the work being done during our math centers. We will continue looking at Place Value and rotating through our stations.
Science still rocks! We have a very special guest coming in next week. I can't wait! Students have been sharing their rock collections and we have been observing, drawing, and identifying the properties, or characteristics, of various rocks & minerals. We also completed
and hung our Agate Art. We look forward to showing these to you next week!
Next week:
Parent Teacher Interviews this Thursday afternoon/evening and Friday morning. Please book your time through Power School. There are no classes Friday.
Fun Lunch Wednesday
Special Guest Thursday
Have a wonderful weekend!
