Stuffy Day!

Our stuffed friends certainly got the ride of their lives as they flew through the air! Good thing they had soft landings :)

Well friends, thank you for checking in with us again this week. Someone told me this was a short week but I'm not convinced. However, it was another good week.

We continued working on our reading skills this week, and we learned about how important it is to Use Our Prior Knowledge to Connect with the Text. This strategy will help us understand what we are reading. We also looked at our reading accuracy by Cross Checking our reading by asking ourselves whether the words sounds right, match the picture, or look right? And most importantly, Does it Make Sense? We have also worked on our writing and word work skills during Daily Five.

In math, we continued working on our math centers and began looking at Place Value; a somewhat difficult, yet important, concept to understand. We will continue to work independently and in small groups.

Science still ROCKS! We now know how to observe rocks and identify some of the properties of minerals. We look at the rock's luster, breakage, colour, streak, hardness, and texture. Of course, more time working with these concepts is essential :)

Next week:

- We will have our first spelling test. I will be giving students 25 sight words to spell.

- We will be solving some open ended math problems

- I do believe Power School will soon be available to book your Parent Teacher Interview times (Oct. 25th & 26th). No classes Oct. 26th

Have a wonderful weekend!
