So... "Quality of Life" is not about having more?

Hello! Welcome back and thank you for checking in with us :)

We've had a rather interesting week in that some of us are exhibiting signs more closely related to Spring Fever in the middle of January! My how some of us have had the wiggles and giggles. Perhaps the cold and snow will remind us that we still have a lot of work to do.

This week at a glance:

Language Arts: We have continued working on reading through guided and independent reading times, writing during Daily Five and through Reader Response Writing to our new novel, The City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau, a wonderful story that supports our Social Inquiry looking at Quality of Life.

In Math, we have spent the week reviewing strategies for adding as we work with double digit addition with regrouping. Many of us are really beginning to understand what it means to regroup and how to recognize when we need to regroup!

In Social it's all about the Quality of Life. We've learned so much this week! We know that our basic needs must be met and that more stuff, name brand clothing, or size of TV doesn't necessarily equate to a better quality of life. Even if we do have flush toilets! (turns out we really don't need indoor plumbing to have our needs met - but it sure does add to our comfort level!)

Club Friday next week (25th)

Have a wonderful Weekend!
