Our blue days brought warm melodies :)

It may have been cold outside, but we stayed warm with these!

Although we were trapped indoors, we had a great week. For recesses, we were able to choose activities ranging from playing math games to drawing, and our lunch recesses offered even more fun activities including playing games in the gym! All in all, I'd have to say your children had a wonderfully exciting week!

This week at school (TWAS):

Language Arts: We are still enjoying listening to and discussing Roz's escape from Hilltop Farms in The Wild Robot Escapes. We continued our work in Guided Reading groups, worked on our spelling patterns with Words Their Way (new words will be coming home on Monday), and enjoying Daily Five activities.

In Math, it's all about regrouping. On Thursday, students learned that once they've mastered the art of regrouping, they can even solve large 5 or 6 digit addition questions! We are slowly transferring our knowledge of regrouping to subtraction. You may notice that Prodigy has been reset to include both addition and subtraction requiring regrouping, but please be aware we are just beginning our exploration of subtraction.

We wrapped our Hearing & Sound Inquiry in Science today. This week we spent time looking at some of the various ways animals hear sound. Did you know that African elephants can hear sounds from miles away? They also flap their ears to help cool them down! How cool is that? (sorry. couldn't resist)

PE - This was week one of Drumfit. Turned out to be a good week for it as we needed the extra movement :)

Social begins next week. We will begin looking at rights & responsibilities quickly followed by wants vs. needs as we begin exploring "quality of life."

Next week:

Kindergarten Registration begins Monday

Fun Lunch Wednesday (Chachis)

Club Friday next week (24th)

Have a wonderful weekend...once it warms up!!
