Onward and Upward!

But before we get carried away, we must be grounded a little while yet...

Yes, it's true. The end of the school year is nearly here. But friends, we still have some work to do.

So this week, we worked on a number of things from writing stories about escaped pets to watching a pupa wiggle and flip around as it emerged as a beetle. We finished reading Wonder and we learned about measurement using a digit, a palm, or a span as the Egyptians did. We learned about having a "personal referent" for centimeters and found out the majority of students index finger is just about 1 cm wide. We looked at the difference between standard and non-standard units of measure and will soon be using centimeters and meters to calculate perimeters. We presented our Science Inquiry Projects and brought them home. And of course, we enjoyed Club Friday after starting a cool new Art Project. And of course, the Champion's Club students had a fabulous day at the splash park! Doesn't seem like much, but I can assure you it was another full week.

Things to Remember:

Please test and bring in all dried-out markers as we will be shipping them to Crayola to be recycled properly.

The Save the Oceans club is holding a bottle drive this week. There will be a trailer in the parking lot to collect all cans/bottles but we'll also accept any/all donations in the office. All donations will be going to the Ocean Legacy Foundation in Delta B.C., where they are leading the way in support of ocean health. Our health depends on the earth's health!

All library books or home reading books are due back by the 14th of June. There will not be any more books borrowed from the library.
